Mechanical and robotic sounds fill the performing area. People enter and are greeted by an actor dressed as a robot character that welcomes them to the Starship Ricoh and takes pictures of the two seated areas. He gives them to the Ricoh technician. The robot then introduces their captain (same actor quick hat change) who relates to the public as a crew while he outlines the surveillance mission that they are about to undertake.
A. To digitally explore the RDC 4300
B. To understand the bits and bytes of the RXP printer.
C. To accurately calibrate the Aficio 2000 color copier.
D. to download thousands of digital pixels and particles into a Ricoh CD rewriter
… To boldly go where no one has gone before in the field of Digital Imaging. Space Cadets, prepare for take off!”
Captain leads the crew through take-off sequence (SFX of space launch). They’ve arrived in deep space (SFX of space sounds). Their trip is interrupted by the sounds of an alien attack. The captain explains that his superiors have been desperately waiting for the alien craft information for some time. (Lead in to sales talk) “What better way to obtain digital information than with this Ricoh RDC 4300 digital camera…”
The captain then talks about the other three products, RXP printer, the Aficio series and the CD writer. He also mentions other professions where this technology applies.
Each sales block is ended by enemy sounds and captain’s counter offensive ploys (dialing various switches, pushing buttons and employing Ricoh force field while playing with passengers as if they were a well experienced crew.
After the last sales block the captain sees that the enemy ship has retreated (obviously due to the vast superiority of the Ricoh Products). The captain congratulates the crew on a job well done and takes them through a quick landing sequence.
The captain twirls around, changes hat and as the robot opens the airlock door and tells the crew that their flight mission data sheets are waiting for them. These are handed out to the public by the two technicians.
The flight mission data sheet is actually a front page of a newspaper with the headline reading “Space Cadets successfully return to Earth”. Each picture is captioned and placed under the headline. The rest of the front page is filled with pictures of the products and key selling points.
The set consists of a stand alone air lock door which people can walk through to enter the seating area (bleachers or benches). A command console (bridge) is situated on a small platform with a swivel office chair and desk with various buttons and switches. A flash animation screen would be real nice off to one side!! This could be used for key selling points and space animation effects.
